Interview With The Appalachian Channel Part 2

My conversation with John Ward delved into some interesting territory. The most surprising turns was when we began to talk about the real reason why for FEMA is involved with the state. On the surface that my sound odd. After all, isn't it FEMA's task to be involved with disasters? That's what I initially mentioned to John Ward, and what he had to tell me next was a bizarre saga of corruption and cover ups.

Interview With The Appalachian Channel Part 1

When I first spoke to John I wasn't sure what to expect. Of course I'd watched his coverage of the crisis, but you know how someone can be one way on camera and turn into someone else when the camera is off? Throughout my conversation with John, I found him to be genuine. He has a way of putting you at ease, I had the feeling that I was talking to a friend on the porch. The man you see on camera doesn't show you just how hard he is actually working. It doesn't show just how deeply he actually cares for people he's never even met. There aren't enough people like this man in the world

Rescue the Perishing

At this very moment there are hundreds of people, families with small children who are freezing in tents because of the callous indifference of local politicians. After the devastating floods caused by Hurricane Helene, there are thousands of residents who have lost their homes. Many people do not have the resources to escape the disaster zone, and have no choice but to remain where they are. There are currently no shelters available in the town of Haywood. In an effort to house families facing freezing temperatures residents have taken it upon themselves to construct tiny houses as shelters. But there is a monkey wrench in all this.

Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving is coming, and I sincerely hope that everyone has a family to eat with. I think this is a great time nationally. I've wondered at times why exactly we have holidays. What I mean is, why do we only have one time in the year where people want to be giving, or thankful? Shouldn't we be this way all year? Over the years I've come to view these times not as the one time in the year I will be grateful or giving, but more as a sort of reset. A reminder to re-orient my thinking for the next year. That being said, I want to devote this post exclusively to thankfulness and everything we have to be grateful for. Especially as we've just come off the heels of a tumultuous election cycle.
