What Is Your Purpose?
In an age of spiritual lethargy and complacency, I believe it is more important than ever for believers to remind ourselves of our purpose. It’s all well and good to study complex matters of theology, but I also think we should remind ourselves that Christ never called us to crawl into a hole and await the Second Coming. We often say “God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life’, yet we are usually fuzzy on what that ‘wonderful plan is’.
Just consider the power of carrying your baton into those places rather than dragging along the ball and chain of hurts and resentments, sins and scars, and old priorities that are not God’s priorities. You will feel lighter and run as a beacon of light for the Lord’s glory rather than hibernating in a dark den surrounded by the weights of the past. Such freedom awaits you as you throw off those things that hinder you from becoming an unstoppable runner in God’s divine relay.
Unstoppable
It’s fitting that I am reading “Unstoppable” by Christine Caine in the beginning of summer, when usually we tend to get out of the house more, and are generally more active. Whether you listen to or read Christine Caine, she is like an adrenaline charged shot of espresso. She effuses so much love and passion for the cause of Christ and ll of that passion and energy is distilled into the pages of “Unstoppable”.
Run Your Race, Not Someone Else’s
From the very beginning Christine utilizes sports analogies when discussing Hebrews 12:1; “Therefore since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” Christine makes a clear case that Christians should embrace God’s call in their lives. In Christine’s life she has created the A21 organization, a team dedicated to rescuing abused women. Yet Christine freely acknowledges that embracing your call may not be in social work, God may have a completely different purpose in mind for you.
Jesus has redeemed our lives so that we can all have forgiveness for our past, a fresh start today, and a hope for the future. Don’t believe the lie that you have been disqualified from this divine relay somewhere along the way. Instead, pick up your baton, look to Jesus, and start running your race again. You are not out of time. God has given you enough time to do all that he has called you to do. While there is breath in our lungs, while our heart is still beating, there is always a hope, and there is always a future. It is never too late for Jesus to complete the unstoppable work of salvation that he started. – Unstoppable
As I read through this book, I was refreshed and inspired in a way no motivational speech ever could. This is far more than a ‘feel good about yourself, and do nice for everyone’ sort of thing. Christine makes a clear cut case that just as God has radically transformed our lives through the power of the gospel, this should translate into action on our parts. I especially loved Christine’s emphasis on the body of Christ and how we should all serve in some capacity. I think in today’s time it is so easy to think of ourselves as distant from other believers. we think ‘oh hey, I’ll see everyone n Sunday’, and we never move beyond that.
If you stop running because you don’t like a particular aspect of your race, you will miss out on the growth that comes from being stretched beyond your comfort zone. – Unstoppable
God has an eternal purpose for the whole body of Christ and a divinely chosen part for every single believer. He has uniquely designed and selected each and every believer to fulfill his or her purpose. – Unstoppable
I remember I recently had a conversation with my Dad over how I wasn’t qualified to help in ministry. What I’m doing here on my blog is simply sharing my experiences. Sharing what’s happening in my life. But aiding in ministry? How could I possibly do such a thing when I still feel so unworthy? When I know so little in comparison to others? It was shortly after that conversation I read Christine Caine and realized that God has chosen me (and you too!) for His purposes. The idea that I am not ‘qualified’ and therefore cannot serve is a complete lie.
Encouragement To Follow God’s Will
“Unstoppable” is an encouraging and energy infused book from Christine Caine. I would recommend it to all believers, because now more than ever we need to embrace our roles as servants, and embrace God’s call for our lives. A great book, filled with inspiring ideas.
