Why ‘The Sound of Freedom” Is The Most Important Movie of The Year

There are times when a book, song or movie comes out, that ends up being a tool for change. Changing the consciousness of a generation by boldly telling the truth. “The Sound of Freedom” from Angel Studios is just that sort of film.

“The Sound of Freedom” stars Jim Caviziel as Tim Ballard, a real-life individual who has dedicated his life to rescuing enslaved children. Right now in the United States, we don’t talk about this issue. I can’t remember the last time I saw the national media reporting on children being sold as slaves. It barely even registers on most peoples radar, not because people don’t care. Far from it! People absolutely care, its just never discussed. It’s for this reason that a movie like “The Sound of Freedom” is so vital.

I watched Jim Caviziel give an interview where he tearfully spoke of the plight of children all over the world. Being brutally taken from their homes and families. “Their lives are a living hell” he said. While most would acknowledge the issue exists, not many realize how large and pervasive the problem really is. “It’s bigger than the sale of illegal weapons!” Caviziel explained. He went on at length talking about how the problem is growing exponentially, how it was on track to becoming the worlds largest blackmarket trade. “There will be no mercy from God for those who sell his children!” Caviziel states angrily. Tell me, when has any news agency spoken like this? I’m drawing the same blank.

I’m ashamed to admit that when I watched that interview, I realized how little I’d thought of the problem. I’ve known for years that child trafficking was an issue, but I don’t think I ever once tried to find out anything about it. Here’s the sad reality, just over two million children a year are sold into slavery. 2 million. Children. Every. Year. This horrified me as I realized just how large this issue really is. It pervades into virtually every single nation, including the United States. Where I live. This is happening all around me, and I say to my eternal shame, that I’ve never even tried to make any difference. I unconsciously assumed there was nothing I could do and continued on with my life. I’m ashamed of this.

Right now, “The Sound of Freedom” is playing in theaters all across the nation. I urge you to please go see it. It will be gut wrenching, you may even weep as you see it. I say good, that means your conscience is still intact. I ask you to tell everyone you know about this movie. Proceeds go to the real life Tim Ballard who is working tirelessly to rescue children allover the world. He is a real life hero and deserves to be treated as such. Post it all over whatever social media apps you use. What is happening right now is vitally important. I cannot think of a more important issue right now, than the issue of child slavery. It is horrific, sickening and we should be doing everything we can to curb this despicable trade. Again, see the movie, share it with everyone you know, and please support the work that’s being done.
